Statement of Practice

Patrick T. Markham is a partner in the Sacramento law firm of Jacobson Markham L.L.P. He has been practicing in the Sacramento area for over 27 years. Patrick specializes in commercial/business litigation with an emphasis in construction litigation (public and private), agriculture, real property and related administrative law disputes. His civil litigation practice includes dispute resolution in State and Federal court, mediation and public and private arbitration.

Patrick has extensive trial experience in a broad range of areas including construction, leasing, real property, contract disputes, business association and personal injury cases. His litigation successes include settlement of multiple actions arising from the construction of a $200 million food processing facility; a successful two month jury trial defending a developer in a dispute regarding a failed real estate purchase involving CEQA and Federal Clean Water Act issues; obtaining a stay and writ of mandate against a public entity to halt a public project and rescind a $5 million dollar construction contract that had been awarded in violation of public contracting law; and, successfully defending a contractor against a subcontractor lawsuit in which the subcontractor claimed nearly $2 million dollars in damages.

Patrick was admitted to practice in the State of California in 1984 and has argued cases before the California Court of Appeal, Third Appellate District. He has also litigated in the United States District Court, Eastern, Northern, Southern and Central Districts of California and has argued cases before the Ninth

Circuit Court of Appeal. He has been admitted pro hac vice to practice in the U.S. Districts of Colorado, Nevada and Hawaii, as well as the State Court in Washington.
